Granita is to summer what cheese-dip is to winter. Don’t confuse this with slushies – it is altogether more tasty. Originally from Sicily granita was a part of our growing up. A quickly as my dad made this we devoured it.
This healthy version is so good.
Ingredients
11/2 Cups sliced strawberries
2 Cups grapefruit juice
1/2 Cup superfine sugar
Blend strawberries and grapefruit juice. Pour through a sieve into a 9×13 pan. Make sure to press through as much juice as possible. It may take a couple of times as you need to rinse the residue from he sieve. Stir in the sugar.
Cover with a lid or foil and place in the freezer.
After an hour work your way around the pan with a fork scraping the icy edges to the center. Repeat every 30 minutes for 2 more hours.
