Chickpeas in Tea

Chickpeas (garbanzo beans) cooked in tea – dhaby kay Chanay

Simple-low cost healthy Indian dish that can be used as an accompanienment or on its own


2 cans chickpeas/garbanzo beans
3 tbsp oil
1tsp cumin seed
1tsp garam masala
2 medium onions
2 jalapeño peppers
2 chopped garlic gloves
4 Roma tomatoes chopped
2tsp grated ginger
12oz tea or water

Salt to taste

In a pan heat oil and fry cumin seeds for 15 seconds then add the onions and cook brown at the edges. add garlic and cook till golde.

Add chillis and cook a minute then add the tomatoes and cook till they are broken down

Add the ginger and garam Masala then add the chickpeas.

Give everything a good stir then add the tea and turn the heat to low and cook for 10-15mins
